A high bar is set for screening qualified companies
SCIPDC applies stringent screening criteria for resident companies and strictly holds companies’ manufacturing projects against safety and environmental protection standards, specifying the requ irement for resident companies to deploy equipment and manufacturing process compliant with safety and environmental protection standards. Meanwhile, the company performs the role of SCIP goalkeeper by conducting project qualification access evaluation and rejecting access to companies not compliant with safety and environmental protection standards

Efforts will be made in exploring third-party environmental governance systems
SCIPDC has undertaken centralized disposal services of waste water and hazardous waste by building a comprehensive system of waste collection, transportation, analysis, disposal and circular economy services thus demonstrating its advanced service system, well-run management system, stringent SOP and unique business model. Due to its role model and demonstrative effect, it has been written into China’s first batch of Best Cases of Third Party Governance of Industrial Park Environmental Pollution.

Innovative matching approach has been adopted for creating empowering synergy
The Company proactively explores innovative matching approach using its investment company as a platform to work with village-level collective economic entity in partnership to empower people so that a coordinated development outcome with mutual and reciprocal benefits between the park and adjacent areas can be achieved, where results from economic development can also be shared with neighboring residents. Since Dec. 2014, village-level collectively joint investment companies respectively set up by Caojing Town, Jinshan district and Zhelin Town, Fengxian district are receiving stable annual investment return through cooperative operation with SCIP Common Corridor Co., Ltd.

Efforts have been put in conducting matched assistance from party organizations to local communities.
11 company party organizations within SCIPDC have provided matched one-on-one assistance to 11 village-level neighborhood committees plus one welfare house in Caojing Town, Jinshan district and Zhelin Town, Fengxian district, delivering close to RMB 1.2 million financial assistance. Efforts have been made to expand the channels and enrich the content of assistance offerings in areas like assisting impoverished people and students as well as people with health issues, constructing livelihood projects and promoting employment. As a result, villagers can access visible, tangible and effective assistance thanks to assistance efforts in constructing roads, senior citizen activity rooms, agricultural machinery warehouses, and lighting facilities for streets as well as conducting health counseling and health checkups.

Efforts have been put in creating jobs for neighboring residents.
SCIPDC supports and encourages its associated companies to create jobs for villagers in neighboring areas. Property management companies and SINO-BAY Hotel will recruit local residents where possible and provide training to enhance their work skillsets and expertise. SCIPDC has set up a Scholarship and Student Grants in Shanghai Petrochemical Academy to support universities to work with tenant companies in conducting talent training and job placement.
